What you will be doing
The Senior Manager of Family Services guides and oversees the Moving Ahead, Family Life
Education, Family Resource, and Young Parent programs. They assist the Director of Operations in
ensuring that programs are consistent with the organization’s strategic plan, and the departments
overall plan. They also provide supervision, guidance, and leadership to staff, ensuring Managers
stay on track with project goals and deliver on objectives.


You will be responsible for...
• Providing supervision, guidance, and leadership to staff, ensuring Managers stay on track with
project goals and deliver on objectives.
• Supporting and assisting the Manager and the Coordinator in budget management to ensure
deliverables are met in accordance with funding requests.
• Working with the Director of Operations to assist in new proposals and contract negotiations
and its submissions.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with contractual agreements.
• Working with the Director of Operations in liaising with program funders.
• Working with the HR Director to create professional development goals for staff.
• Collaborating with the HR Director regarding the hiring of Managers and staff.
• Working with the Managers and participating in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
processes.
• Monitoring the organization’s restructuring plan is operational and that goals are on track to
be successfully delivered.
• Providing leadership and vision with a focus on impactful programs aligned with community
needs.
• Collaborating with Managers and the Director of Operations to plan, develop, and
implement new programs.
• Representing the agency at community events or other official functions and community
meetings as assigned.
• Advising the Executive Leadership Team about risk reduction.
• Performing other related duties as required.

What skills & experience you will bring to us
• A degree or certificate in non-profit management, social work, child and youth counselling,
adult education or other relevant human services field, or the equivalent combination of
education and experience.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a non-profit organization.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in supervision or management.
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of specific community-based programs and services,
applicable legislation, policies, procedures, and community relations.
• Excellent interpersonal behavior and communication skills; exceptional team building,
leadership, supervisory, and group facilitation skills.
• Previous experience working on multi-disciplinary teams and working with adults who have
multiple barriers (poverty, lack of attachment to long-term employment, isolation due to
cultural / language barriers, lack of confidence, lack of appropriate social skills, history of
trauma, substance / sexual abuse, etc.)
• Sensitivity to and experience working with issues facing vulnerable populations, including
social, cultural, emotional, and sexual orientation issues.
• Non-judgmental, positive approach.
• Excellent attention to administrative detail, managing program expenses, and entering client
data on computerized, secure systems.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with a crisis and individual and group education and support.
• Exceptional time, organizational, and self-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with program staff, volunteers, and non-profit or publicly funded
groups, agencies, and organizations.
• Ability to function independently and frequently under pressure while managing multiple
concurrent projects and deadlines.
